Fly Fishing
The Bahamas and Andros are renowned worldwide as the ultimate destination for bonefishing, particularly on the south and westside flats, which boast vast expanses of pristine white sand and unpressured bonefish populations. These flats are ideal for wading, allowing anglers to quietly stalk and cast to cruising and tailing bones, while expertly guided skiffs offer access to the abundant bonefish in the mangrove lagoons.
Andros Island’s diverse fishing locations are another advantage, with Deep Creek and Little Creek providing shelter from winds that might make ocean side flats less fishable. This variety of fishing locations, combined with some of the most consistent fishing in the Bahamas, makes South Andros the “Bonefishing Capital” of the world.
Guests of Bair’s Lodge also have the opportunity to target the elusive Permit, as well as Tarpon and Snook, making a Grand Slam day possible for experienced fly-fishers. The professional guides at the lodge have an intimate knowledge of the surrounding waters and will provide expert advice on techniques for catching large bonefish.
A typical day of fishing starts at 8:00 am and concludes at 4:00 pm, with packed lunches provided for guests. The lodge’s 16-foot Dolphin Super Skiffs, equipped with poling platforms, 85 HP Yamaha outboards, and spacious casting decks with angler lean bars, offer the perfect platform for targeting bonefish and other species.
In addition to bonefishing, Bair’s Lodge also offers guests the opportunity to arrange Bluewater fly fishing excursions to target Wahoo, Tuna, Snapper, Mahi Mahi, and other species.
